The intent of this program is to operate in the public interest for scientific, education, and charitable purposes. The program is organized with a non-profit tax status. All proceeds are used to maintain, improve and/or expand the program’s operation.
The program intends to serve non-minor dependents, at least 18 years of age and not more than 21 years of age, male, female, bisexual, gay, transgender or pregnant (hereafter referred to as NMDs) for placement in a scatter-site housing unit (1 NMD to a bedroom), a model in which one or more NMDs live independently together in a apartment or single-family dwelling with an adult employee available as needed to provide supervision in the facility; and the facility is certified by the host county to provide housing and support services as needed to NMD.
The program does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation/identity, or disability. The program will provide non-medical residential support and other services consistent with mentoring and providing assistance to NMDs who are at least 18 years of age and not more than 21 years of age and who are completing secondary education or a program leading to an equivalent credential; and/or enrolled in an institution which provides postsecondary or vocational education; and/or participating in a program or activity designed to promote, or remove barriers to employment; and/or employed for at least 80 hours per month.
